Yuna



Yunalis May Zara’ai (@yuna) better known by her stage name Yuna, was born in 14 November 1986 in Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia. After completing her secondary schooling, she began studying law at Universiti Teknologi MARA where she graduated with a Bachelor of Legal Studies in 2009. During her secondary schooling, she began writing songs and later on, after teaching herself to play the guitar, performing across Malaysia at acoustic shows. One year before graduating from university, she released a self titled EP and two years later, in 2010, she released her first studio album. In 2011, she signed with Fader Label, a US based record company. Promoting her music, she traveled across the United States appearing on late night shows and at Lollapalooza and Bonnard. In 2015 she was appointed as a tourism advisor to Malaysia’s Tourism Department to help promote tourism to her home country. She released another album, Chapters in 2018 followed by Rogue in 2019. She worked with her husband, Adam Sinclair, who she married in 2017 to shoot the music video for Forevermore, which they shot entirely in Malaysia. After her marriage in Malaysia, she returned to the United States where she continued to pursue her career working with artists like Usher, Tyler the Creator, and G-Eazy.
