Yasmin Elhady



The daughter of Libyan and Egyptian immigrants, Yasmin Elhady was born in Egypt but moved to the deep south of the United States at the age of 4. She studied neuroscience and middle eastern studies at Emory University in Atlanta, George before moving to California to attend law school at UCLA. In between degrees, she took time off to study Arabic on a graduate fellowship in her home country, Egypt. Out of law school, she took a job at the United States Department of Justice and then returned to school to study for a Masters in public policy. She now works as an attorney focusing on community building, civic rights, and immigration. In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Yasmine Elhady has also crafted out a niche for herself, running a blog called Yasguru, which specializes in Muslim dating and relationship advice. Her videos can be found on Youtube, where she appears with her alter ego, YasGuru, a hyperactive relationship expert. On her website, Yasmin shares stories and relationship advice, covering a wide range of topics, including commitment, long distance relationships and mental health in dating. She also holds trainings and interactive workshops discussing marriage preparation and offering advice sessions for couples across the country, as well as matchmaking for Muslim couples.
