S.K. Ali was born in Southern India and migrated to Canada when she was just three years old. She started writing at a young age, finishing her first story when she was seven years old. She went on to pursue writing as a career, studying Creative Writing at York University, where she obtained her degree. In addition to her career in novels, she is also a teacher and writes for the Toronto Star. In January 2017, S.K. created the hashtag, #MuslimShelfSpace to highlight Muslim authors in literature. She has published a range of books, including two novels Saints and Misfits and Love from A to Z. In 2019, she coauthored a picture book, The Proudest Blue, with Ibtihaj Muhammad, the Olympian athlete and she has published two short stories - Hungry Hearts: 13 Tales of Food and Love and Once Upon An Eid: Stories of Hope and Joy by 15 Muslim Voices. In 2017, S.K. won the Asian/Pacific American Award for Young Adult Literature for her book Saints and Misfits.
