Carolyn Walker-Diallo



Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Carolyn Walker-Diallo has been a leading community figure in Brooklyn from a young age. She studied political science and business administration from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania before returning to New York to obtain her JD from New York Law School. Upon completing her degree, she started work at the New York City Office of the Corporation Counsel defending the city of New York. She took over leading a nonprofit, The George Walker Jr, Community Coalition, named after her father and also started the first and only East New York Youth Court. After joining Brooklyn’s Community Services, one of the oldest nonprofits in Brooklyn, she was awarded a Distinguished Honor for her community work. In December 2014, Carolyn Walker-Diallo launched her campaign for judge. She ran unopposed and was sworn into office as a Civil Court Judge on 10th December 2015. She took her oath of office on the Quran. The video of her swearing ceremony went viral because of this and she received numerous death threats as a result. Despite this, she has gone on to thrive in her position, receiving a number of recognitions and has recently been appointed Supervising Judge of the New York City Civil Court of Kings County.
